THE SOLITAIRE NAVIGATOR WHO ON BOARD HER SAILING BOAT “PETER PUNK” WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE MINI TRANSAT 2021 RACE UNDER THE CLUB’S CABINET
On Sunday, September 12, the RCNB welcomed Pilar Pasanau and her sailboat “Peter Punk” at the Club’s facilities as a base for their tuning before leaving for Les Sables d’Olonne, after finishing training.
The manager of the Club, Joan Marín was proud to present the pennant of the Reial Club Nàutic de Barcelona to the navigator. Pilar Pasanau thanked all the support of the RCNB that has put her facilities at the service of the navigator as a basis in her preparation to participate in the Mini Transat 2021.
The Catalan Pilar Pasanau is one of the 8 women among the 84 participants who will start this Mini Transat 2021, the now classic transoceanic regatta of 7,500 kilometers, the distance between the French coastal town of Les Sables d’Olonne and the island of Guadeloupe, starts on Sunday, September 26.
The tour is done in two stages with a stopover in Santa Cruz de la Palma before crossing the entire Atlantic to French waters beyond on the other side of the ocean. The test is a challenge for individual self-improvement. During a little more than the 3 weeks that the organization estimates that this crossing through the Atlantic lasts, the participants are alone aboard a 6.5 meter long sailboat. Alone and without any kind of technological help. No satellite weather routes. Without scales.
This will be Pasanau’s fourth participation in the Mini Transat, where she will seek to conclude for the third time. On this occasion, she will be accompanied by on-board cameras to record a documentary to share her experience with all her followers. And, on her horizon, one more major challenge: to go around the world alone on her sailboat.
